The viaduct of course is a series of segments of plate girder that are supported by a steel frame. The base of the frame is a steel shoe of some sort mounted to the concrete pier that it is sitting on.
This pier set is modeled after the Milwaukee Railroads Blacktail Trestle East of Butte, Mt. It is a concrete pier with a steel shoe. There are three piers per Trestle Pier Base. The pier can be cut down as needed. This era is from the 1920’s to the demise of the Milwaukee Road in Montana of 1972.
